Schools One-Day Workshop
The Creative Beans team visit schools to hold the One-day Workshop for children in Years 4-7. The Learning Objectives of the workshop have been designed to complement the requirements of the National Curriculum.
During the morning, children learn three essential elements to writing a fantastic short story: how to plan a compelling plot, how to create convincing characters and how to describe vivid settings.
Interactive activities help children learn skills in these three areas. They then work collaboratively in groups of 2 or 3 to plan and write their narrative. A loose theme is provided to weave a common thread through all the stories. The writing session is concluded with children learning how to be effective editors of their own work and each other's work.
During the final part of the day, Lucy Panes shares techniques and inspiration to help children produce a fantastic illustration to accompany their stories.
After the workshop, we type up and format the children's work in order to have the stories and illustrations printed in a beautiful book. The books are available for children to purchase within 2 weeks of the workshop.
